Permanent Hair Removal with Electrolysis

For centuries, a method to remove hair permanently has been sought. Every day, newer methods are being hyped up in the media as a permanent cure for hair. The majority of these so called "permanent" hair removal methods are fraudulent. There is only one method to remove hair permanently and it is via electrolysis.

In electrolysis, a current of electricity is delivered to the hair follicle using a very thin wire probe. The heat generated by the electric current effectively destroys the hair root making it incapable of regenerating hair.

Even electrolysis is not always 100% effective. It is dependent on the technician doing it, the type of hair you have and the amount of heat energy being utilized.

The technique of electrolysis is subdivided into:

Galvanic electrolysis: In this technique a chemical (like sodium chloride) is applied to your skin and the current applied. It is the chemical which then destroys the hair root.

Thermolysis: In Thermolysis a radiofrequency probe generates heat which destroys the hair root

Blend electrolysis
: Often galvanic and Thermolysis are combined to destroy the hair root.

Since the technique can only treat one hair at a time, the procedure is time consuming. Even a few hairs on the chin can take 30-45 minutes.

Hair can be removed by electrolysis from:

- eyebrows

- upper lip

- cheeks, chin

- neck

- shoulders, arms, underarms

- breasts

- panty line

- buttocks and legs

- ears, nose,

- back

- beards

The procedure is not painless and you will definitely feel the current sensation. The discomfort is variable depending on your threshold for pain. Further the procedure is tedious and can be quite difficult when someone has hair that is growing like a bush.

The procedure is generally safe but rare side effects include:

- electric shocks

- infection

- scarring

Many States do not have standard guidelines on credentialing and licensing of people who perform electrolysis. So before you get the procedure, ask around and read about the procedure. Seek someone with experience and a good safety record.

Further the procedure is expensive. So before you get "burnt twice" find out all you can about the procedure and the technician who does it.
